Sharing recycle innovation data in Brightlands Materials Center project

Oerlemans Plastics works closely with partners TNO and the University of Twente to develop a predictive model that provides insight into the sealing behaviour of films containing PCR material. This project called OPZuid Ciflex is one of the innovative cooperations created at Brightlands Materials Center.

Within the CIFLEX-project, Oerlemans Plastics with representation by the OPACKGROUP Technology Centre) is working closely with partners TNO and the University of Twente to develop a predictive model that provides insight into the sealing behaviour of films containing Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material.

The model uses input data to predict how much PCR material a film can contain and how this affects the sealing process. Factors such as sealing time, temperature and possibly also pressure are taken into account, which are essential for reliable machine processability.

In recent months, Oerlemans Plastics has played an active role as a material and knowledge partner. Various films have been produced with varying PCR contents and different LDPE/LLDPE ratios, providing valuable data for further modelling.

This development contributes to the ambition to realise high-quality, circular packaging solutions while maintaining processability and performance.

Oerlemans Plastics is participant in the OPZuid CIFLEX project, co-funded by the European Union. For more information, visit the project website:
